Annual Beach Trip!
September 25, 2009 · 2 Comments
Seafood, sipping, sleeping, Seinfeld, superheroes, stingers, and spiders the size of quarters. Really.
Elisabeth, Jon, Abram, Mindy, Emmeline, and Ian.
(I wonder if the lady who took our picture even knew that Baby Abey was in that car seat?)
And this getaway could not have happened without Tatay & Nanay, Lolo & Lola, and Uncle Phil, Auntie Ligaya & Eloise with a little Uncle Josh, Auntie Bekah, Solomon & Penelope thrown in for good measure. They all took good care of Makaena, Aidan, Paige, and Joshua up in Seattle. Many, many thanks!
Oh. And Sleepy Monk is now open through the winter but it’s only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We were there on a Tuesday through Thursday. Blast.
Week 38: I Chronicles 15-II Chronicles 8

Mia: In I Chronicles chapter 21, David commanded Joab and the commanders of the troop to count the people from Beersheba to Dan. Joab tried to reason with him, but he had to count the people, and the LORD was angry and punished Israel. Then, in I Chronicles 27:24 Joab tried to count people again, same as David. And this numbering “brought wrath on Israel.” Why would Joab do that? After the king did it and got in big trouble with God? It’s like Joab was testing God.
Ian: I love the model of ministry found at the end of II Chronicles 5…
Then the temple of the LORD was filled with a cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the temple of God.
To be so near God that his agenda supplements or even overrides our part in his work. Wow.

Mindy: What do you want for lunch?
Ian: I’m not sure, yet. All I know is that I need meat.
Mindy: How ’bout I make you a bacon thing?
Ian: Yes.
