It’s All Vietnamese To Me
May 29, 2007 · 3 Comments
Over the weekend, my mom visited from Seattle and we took her to one of her favorite Portland spots – a Vietnamese restaurant renown for their pepper salted squid – Thien Hong.
As with most ethnic restaurants, the menu had selections listed in English and in Vietnamese. We were still deciding what to order when the server came with our round of water. Paige (4) looked up from her menu to the server and stated…
“You know we can’t understand this, right?”

Picnic
May 17, 2007 · 5 Comments
Mindy told the kids that she’d like to take them for a picnic in the park.
Paige: We can go to the place with the statues and the grass?
Mindy (trying to figure out where Paige is talking about): With the statues and the grass?
Paige: With the rocks.
Mindy (still trying): The rocks?
Paige: The place where the people go to die.
Mindy: You mean the cemetary?
Paige: Yeah!

Makaena: Oh yeah! I get it. Mario Brothers.
